Peace and Freedom       © Bill Prince 8th June 2004
I found myself in town one day with nothing on my mind
I wandered round the shops awhile just to kill some time
A woman came up to me in some department store
"Excuse me, can I help you, sir, what are you looking for?"

I said
Peace and freedom, peace and freedom
Peace and freedom, that's all

A woman out on Barrack Road offered me her wares
"I've a place just round in Semilong, why don't we go upstairs?
I'll inflame your inner passions, set your senses all on fire
I'll do anything you want" she said, "just tell me your desire"

And I said
Peace and freedom, peace and freedom
Peace and freedom, that's all

On my way home I passed a church, the priest was standing near
He said "Young man, please come inside, you'll find salvation here.
We always have a welcome for the hungry and the poor
For Jesus' love will save your soul, now what could you want more?"

And I said
Peace and freedom, peace and freedom,
Peace and freedom, that's all

The woman in the department store, the harlot and the priest
They only offered answers to the things that I want least
I've a loving wife and family, and shoes upon my feet
There's only two things that I want to make my life complete

And they are
Peace and freedom, peace and freedom,
Peace and freedom, that's all
